This bike has a hybrid design, most of the bag is soft, but the areas that matter to protect the bike are in hard plastic. This makes it fabulous to transport your road bike with internal cabling or if you don't want to mess with your bike fit. This also makes the bike bag a lot lighter, smaller when travelling compared to other hard shells (I also rent a Thule on here so know very well the advantages and drawbacks of both philosophies) and also packs very small when not in use which is surprisingly beneficial when you arrive at your destination. For me, this is the absolute best bike bag to transport a modern aero/internal cabling/carbon bike safely and easily. It has a lot of features and requires a bit of finesse and setting to get the most of it, but it is very with it. The time that you spend setting the bike at home is one that you are not going to spend rebuilding your bike at destination.
